Usually set in isolated areas where there is no one to help the characters/no where for them to run too. 
Everything is normally dark, dirty and dilapidated. 
Normally a fight scene between supposedly friendly characters as tension runs high. 
Chase scenes where characters are unsure of what they are running from and cannot escape anyway.

Characters

Creepy adult character who scares/intimidates the teenage victims.
Normally teenagers aged 18+ not usually older than 25. 
Creepy child who scares the adult characters. 
Male who dies first due to his self-absorption. 
Dim witted, promiscuous blonde girl who never survives, due to lack of common sense. 
Attractive male who is brave and usually dies trying to save others. 
Geeky character who think they know everything and normally do, but are ignored until the end.
Shy overly scared character, who normally dies at the end because of their panic actions. 
Unknown character that kills people off in disturbing ways. 

Narrative

A play on common fears, blurring the line between fantasy and reality. 
A struggle of good against evil.
Evil forces, events or characters sometimes of supernatural origin intruding into the everyday world. 
Designed to make the audience jump, feel shocked, uncomfortable, disturbed and frightened. 

Sound Lighting

Creepy sounding backing track.
Diegetic sounds like footsteps, echoes and screams.

WHAT IS A TRAILER?

A trailer or preview is an advertisement for a feature film 

that will be exhibited in the future at a cinema. 


THE FUNCTION?


The function of a trailer or preview is to show what actors 

and directors are taking part within the movie itself, to 

encourage the audience to watch the movie, to inform the 

target audience about the film, it advertises the film and 

lastly because it is part of the marketing making of a film

I analysed this film trailer as my first piece of research.

GENRE: Horror
NARATIVE: Family are going on holiday, and the peoples in the hills kill them.
USP: How real the film is, the imformation provided at the begining.
MUSIC: Dramatic, Upbeat towards end, Calforina Dreams.
